Teachers.
Join the group of teachers making a difference for gifted students in Shelby County. All of our teachers serve students in PreK to high school by providing a unique environment that fosters creativity, deeper thinking, collaboration, and personal growth. Our teachers must be stellar educators in front of students but also efficient managers of time, tasks, and customer service. We strive for excellence both personally and professionally as we model the values and skills we want our students to embrace.

Becoming a CLUE Teacher

There are several ways to become eligible to teach gifted students outlined by the state of TN. Below is the current standard for teaching gifted in Shelby County Schools.
  • Teacher must have current teaching license that covers the grade level of the job assignment.
  • Teacher must have Gifted Employment Standard or Gifted Endorsement completed before the next school year but can work on coursework while teaching provided that s/he has a mentor teacher that has gifted certification.
    • Gifted Employment Standard requires 6 hours of college credit in gifted coursework.
    • Gifted Endorsement PK-12 includes completion of gifted endorsement program (up to 15 hours) and passing score on the Gifted Praxis. This endorsement is included on the updated teaching license.
